The application process for the PNP will depend on the specific program you are applying for. It can be done through a paper application process or through the online process via the Express Entry system.
As part of the PNP application process, applicants must undergo a medical examination and obtain a certificate of no criminal record. These requirements are necessary for all applicants, regardless of where they currently reside in Canada. The PNP is an excellent pathway for individuals looking to establish themselves in a specific province or territory while also gaining permanent residency in Canada.
There are two ways to apply for PNP: online and on paper.
1. Contact the province or territory where you want to live and work to apply for their PNP.
2. Submit your application for a provincial nomination along with all required documents to the designated provincial office.
3. If you meet the eligibility criteria of the province or territory, you will receive a Provincial Nomination Certificate.
4. Once nominated, you will use the certificate to apply for permanent residence to IRCC.
Regardless of the application process, you must meet the minimum requirements of the PNP and show that you meet the minimum Express Entry requirements, including eligibility for one of the immigration programs in Express Entry. You must also undergo a medical examination and obtain a police certificate, which are mandatory for all immigration applications to Canada.
The Express Entry process offers two ways to apply for provincial nomination:
• You can contact the province or region and apply for a nomination through the Express Entry stream. If the province agrees to nominate you, you will create an Express Entry profile or update an existing one to indicate your nomination.
• Alternatively, you can create an Express Entry profile and indicate your preferred provinces and territories. If a province or territory sends you a "Notice of Interest," you can contact them directly and apply for their Express Entry program. If nominated, the province will offer you the nomination through your account, and you can accept it electronically.
To be eligible for provincial nomination, you must meet the province's specific requirements and meet the minimum requirements for one of the immigration programs in the Express Entry system. You must also submit an Express Entry profile and show that you are eligible for the immigration program. If invited to apply, you can submit an electronic application to the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
